As part of this cooperative, one of our main goals is to challenge each other by showcasing how each of us can fit a trend to our personal style. By now you must know I prefer heels over flats, classy over undone and the more accessories I can carry in my limbs, the happier I am. So, when I received a message from my dear Quiqui saying: “What are your thoughts on jumpsuits?” right after purchasing my very first one for only $20, you have to think that somehow and for some reason the universe has conspired in your favor—our first challenge was born. Here’s the first in a series of many…
I knew from the get-go that this would be as challenging as stealing candy from a two year old. Jumpsuits are the epitome of sophisticated when worn the right way—of course throwback 15 years ago, not so much. So how do I fit a psychedelic-zebra print jumpsuit into my wardrobe? Tone down the accessories and let it speak for itself. I mean, it is not everyday that you are able to walk out of your building looking as if you were meant to be nibbling on green pasture and running through the wilderness. And by no means is this to be taken in a negative context… If I was indeed a zebra, you would have to admit, I would be the chic-est of the flock.
When I was challenged to do a jumpsuit post, my first thought was–how do I do this without looking like J-Lo circa her Selena years? After looking through my closet I found this black silk suit. I’m going to be honest, I’m generally a low-key dresser: ripped jorts, white tees and tennis are my thing. According to my mother, I am a professional at ruining nice outfits. In this case though, some items are meant to be, well elegant, and even somebody like me, cannot help but dressing this sucker up.
