A few nights ago I had a serious conversation about leopard print. I know many people just don’t like it but I’m a huge fan , especially the purple variety. Regardless, the excess of prints being worn this season couldn’t be ignored, so when I came across these jeans at Forever 21 (and for a steal) I couldn’t say no. Since Miami is entering its “fall” season, we can now wear jeans without feeling overly uncomfortable and sweaty in our crotch area. Linen pants are no longer appropriate; cue the printed pantalón.
These are pretty wild on their own, but I like the combination of the yellow, blue, and red of my wedge sneakers with the audacity of the print. Paired with a white tee, the universal go-to for toning down wild getups, I was good to go. Miami Heat? Only on the court, baby.
When I think prints, I get a headache. Don’t get me wrong, I love prints as much as the next person but when it comes to buying them, that’s a whole nother ball of wax. I like to stick to neutrals. They never give you a headache at 8 in the morning when you are trying to look presentable for work. They don’t requie much, just a good sense of color combination and symmetry. Buying printed garments however, require me doing a whole analysis of how many times I could wear them –without overwhelming those around me– vs the how much they cost. In this day and age, you gotta get your money’s worth and quite frankly my math is a bit rusty… hence the headache.
But these suckers didn’t require an ‘excel-table-graphic’ comparison. They were cheap, they were flared, they were sheer, and the print was so subtle even a five year old can figure out how to style them. Thats what I call a bargain. Plus, with the northeast fall in full swing (or as I like to call it: roller coaster weather), I’ve managed to cover myself up appropriately– long sleeved denim blouse, a hat, and boots- yet still radiate that je’ ne sais quoi that causes the local barista to yell out: “Girl you got steez…” And hey, a compliment like that is worth every penny!!
